DESCRIPTION
Circular Interface consists of eight custom-built structural units. Each unit is assembled from aluminum profiles and CNC-milled aluminum panels forming a nine-grid framework. The front surface of each panel is precisely engraved with the Chinese character for Like (赞), echoing the ubiquitous Like button across social media. The nine grids are joined by multi-screw aluminum connectors, maintaining a strict and modular geometry — the structure resembles both a standardized social-media interface and the barred window of a cell. On the reverse side, a milled circular barbed-wire pattern serves as a visual emblem, hinting at the hidden mechanisms of control behind the interface. Beneath the seemingly gentle surface of social imagery lies a field of surveillance, discipline, and partitioned vision. Together, the eight units form a closed loop — a structural model of algorithmic circulation — enclosing the viewer within the space of the interface itself.
Circular Interface: Heat Dissipation adopts copper as its primary visual and structural material, exuding a sense of cold intensity and contained energy. The work consists of a copper baseplate, oxidized copper sunflower heat sinks, and thick braided copper cables that extend along the frame, forming an organic network of conduction and release. Nine heat sinks are arranged in a nine-grid composition; at the center of each circular sink, flesh-colored silicone is cast into the hollow space, each surface engraved with one capital letter from the phrase JOIN OR DIE. The softness of the silicone contrasts sharply with the hardness of the metal, suggesting a trace of bodily residue seeping through a technological apparatus. The theme of Heat Dissipation refers not only to the physical process of energy transmission, but also to the psychological mechanism of contemporary social media and AI systems. Through the constant expression of emotions, opinions, and images, humans release their inner spiritual heat into the cooling network system. Social platforms thus become vast spiritual radiators, where users perpetually lose and rebalance their own temperature through endless interaction.
