DAYBREAK

2016
Painting installation
Ink on paper, aluminium plate, mirror, dimensions variable

Daybreak is a set of painting installations designed and made tailored to the feature of the gallery. By making use of the low loft ceiling and sharp contrast of the wall, floor and ceiling, the artist sets up the anti-exhibition painting installations. All the works are hung in the air with the front facing the floor, and the back of the frames are covered with identical black aluminum panes. The spectators can only enjoy the works with the help of the mirrors on the floor, but no one is able to have a full view. Combining the paradoxical and historic painting with the special way of exhibition, Daybreak builds a scenario of paradox about the meaning of collectivism and multiple reading contexts.
